The MTV Video Music Awards has always made headlines for its red carpet looks. And just when we thought we saw it all, this year came back with a bang. Celebrities have gone all out in 2020. We’re talking space helmets and dramatic fairytale gowns. Although the VMAs had pre-taped and staged all the performances across New York City due to the current situation, our favourite celebrities still brought their A-game. Here are some of the craziest looks from the 2020 VMAs red carpet.
1. Lady Gaga – Look 1
Crown Gaga the queen of the VMA’s already! This was one of the nine ensembles that the eccentric pop singer wore to the event. Here, she’s wearing a Candice Cuoco jacket, a luxurious MaisonMet mask, and a stunning Valentino bodysuit. Don’t forget to check out @ladygaga’s post.
2. Joey King
The Kissing Booth actress had her floral moment on this year’s red carpet. In this post, @joeyking is seen wearing a Versace outfit with printed yellow and red roses. It’s quite a statement look, and we love it!
3. Black Eyed Peas
The Black Eyed Peas have entered our list of people who sported the most unexpected outfits. They wore what seemed to be LED light thongs. It surely must have caught everyone’s attention during their performance of “Vida Loca” on stage. Check out @jreysoul’s post to know more.
5. The Weeknd
Wondering why @theweeknd looks ready for Halloween? This look is a tribute to his After Hours album cover and the “Blinding Lights” music video. He looks dapper in a red blazer, black shirt, and trousers.
6. Nicole Richie
The reality star looked absolutely breathtaking in a green taffeta dress. It showed off her slender shoulders and toned legs. We loved that she kept her makeup minimal, allowing the dress to shine. @nicolerichie posted this picture with a caption saying, “representing all the greens tonight.”
7. Sofia Carson
The 27-year-old singer and actress was a vision in red. @sofiacarson wore a peplum gown: a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress with the most dramatic waistline in this year’s VMAs. She also wore some gorgeous Vhernier jewelry pieces and Jimmy Choo shoes.
8. Lady Gaga – Look 2
Here’s another look posted by @ladygaga, who was named the Artist of the Year. It is a picture of her donning a bubblegum-pink gas mask. Her multi-colored outfit was designed by the brilliant Iris van Herpen. Gaga is also seen wearing a pair of high heeled platform boots by Pleasers.
9. Jabbawockeez

10. Machine Gun Kelly
MGK stole the show with an all hot-pink look that showed off his tattooed arms. The pink was a perfect contrast to his blonde hairdo. He wore some stunning accessories, and we think the pearl necklace, as seen in this post by @mgk_usa, compliments the outfit beautifully!
11. Travis Barker
Travis Barker aced the “too cool to care” look. In this post by @famousstarsandstrapsuk, you can see him wearing a graphic T-shirt over a pair of tartan pants and Converse sneakers. We like it because of his mask that reads “Don’t trust anyone!” We love an artist who wears a mask!
12. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus wore a stunning Mugler Fall 2020 polka dot sheer dress to the event, and boy did she look drop-dead gorgeous. She topped it off with a red lip and some chunky jewelry by Loree Rodkin. We can count on @mileycyrus to shock us with her red carpet outfits every year.
13. Madison Beer
@madisonbeer flaunted her sensational figure in a semi-sheer black dress with a plunging neckline. She also wore a stunning pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes that elevated her overall look and turned many heads at the VMAs.
14. Lady Gaga – Look 3
Just when we thought that @ladygaga’s outfits couldn't get any better, we’re blessed with a picture of her sporting a dazzling sequined bodysuit and a feather coat by Valentino. Doesn’t she look like a Victoria Secret model? There’s no look this diva can’t pull off!
