An interrogation is to intimidate the person being questioned and get them to confess the crimes they are accused of. Cops cannot afford to miss a beat and often resort to the entire good cop, bad cop routine. But, none of this seemed to intimidate Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone), a novelist, in Basic Instinct. When she is questioned about her writing that is accurate to the letter revealing a recent murder, Tramell reveals anything but the truth. The scene where she uncrosses her legs over made all the men in the room sweat as they caught a quick yet deliberate glance. It’s subtle but effective, as Tramell manages to shift their focus.
